What is potential of linguistic diversity in class?

What is the potential for linguistic diversity within the same classroom? Can it positively enhance the coexistence of students with different mother tongues in the same classroom or class? José Pascoal presents theoretical perspectives and practical approaches from his own experience, capable of opening new horizons to socializing and learning from students who do not speak the same language. The presentation will be followed by a conversation expected to be fruitful for those who face this situation at school daily.




José Pascoal is a founding member of ALTE and CAPLE. He is a co-author of programs and references for teaching, learning, and assessing the Portuguese language at L1 levels, L2, and LE. 


He is a co-author of exams and exam models for children and adults, exam auditor and oral and written performances in Portuguese. Pascoal was a professor at FLUL and is currently a Professor at Macao University. 


José Pascoal participated in numerous projects related to Portuguese as a foreign language in different geographical areas and has experience in initiatives of inclusion of Portuguese emigrants' children in schools of the United Kingdom, defining strategies capable of enhancing linguistic diversity in a school context.
