Chinese Contemporary Cinema by Liu Jianyin
Lecture
Professor Liu Jiayin (b.981) presents latest developments in Chinese Contemporary Cinema, with a special focus on the complexities of script writing. 

Currently a professor in the Department of Literature at the Beijing Film Academy, Liu Jiayin (b. 1981) is also a BFA alumni, having been awarded both her Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees in Screenwriting there. At present, she is also completing a PhD in Film Art Theory at the BFA, in the Department of Directing. Liu directed, wrote and produced the feature film Oxhide (2005) – recognised with prizes and awards at Berlin, Hong Kong, Vancouver and Jeonju International Film Festivals – as well as a sequel, Oxhide II (2009), nominated for Cannes IFF Directors’ Fortnight and lauded with both the Critics’ and the Audience Choice Awards at the Cinema Digital Seoul Film Festival (CinDi). Her screenplay Clean and Bright was a recipient of the Hong Kong – Asia Film Financing Forum (HAF) Script Development Fund in 2011. Her recent work includes authoring the screenplay for The Gap Year in 2014.
